The hike and bike trail on town lake is a great place to go for a run or kayak. The trail is forgiving on the knees, and it's a relatively flat terrain too. There are water fountains along the way that help in the summer.

This is a fantastic place to take your dog for walking/running the trails or swimming or just hanging out. This is a true dog paradise. I live in Iowa, and I've never seen so many behaved dogs in one place. Dog owners out here seem to be very responsible folks. I visited the lake several times (Barton Springs area) with... More

If you love running, walking or water sport then you will not want to miss Town Lake. Our family rows and there is great rowing available from two different rowing clubs downtown. There is also canoeing and think those boats can be rented from the rowing clubs, as well. It wont take too long of a journey, in the water... More

Came here with friends recently just to blow of steam and shoot the breeze. Trails along the water are wide and nicely groomed, not always paved. Beautiful trees and landscaping. Every here and there there are benches, trash and bags for dogs, water fountains. Lots of people on the water canoeing, paddle boarding, rowing. No swimming. GREAT view of the... More

Spent time alongside the lake while wandering downtown Austin. Nice walking and makes a lot of downtown accessible without the hassle of traffic.

hard to find parking, dirty environment, food price too expensive, not a safe place even day time, always bad guys hanging around you, make sure you go with the group.

Spent a morning fishing for largemouth bass. Nice sizes around 5 pounds are common. I caught one on my third cast. The city of Austin is a nice backdrop.

This is the most wonderful place for urban outdoor geeks. You can walk, kayak, and bike for mile. If you get tired you can make a pit stop almost anywhere along the trail. It is clean and regardless of the throngs of people about on the week-end, you never feel mobbed.

It's very pretty. Has a track to run/walk around which is very pretty and has great views of the downtown building on the part of the trail underneath the Congress Bridge. There is this great Stevie Ray Vaughn statue down there too. It's pretty neat and I would recommend using this as a morning exercise route for the views.
