Words really can’t describe how spectacular this aquarium is. Anyone who has a fondness for aquatic animals must put this on their Osaka itinerary. You won’t forgive yourself if you miss it. It’s close to one of the main railway stops and from there it’s a short 10-minute walk to the aquarium. You won’t miss it, as it’s impressive and... More

We have visited many large and famous aquariums around the world, and this one is certainly one of the nicest. In the Osaka aquarium displays are built in such a way that visitors can see life above and under water around the world. There are some incredibly rare and interesting animals and sea creatures, and the deep fish tank is... More

Went with my wife and children (10 and 8) during Easter week, so it was busy. We queued for tickets for about 20mins, the queue was actually shorter by lunchtime. Buy a joint ticket for the big wheel if you know you want to go on it - it saves a little money, although they don't do that for kids,... More

Excellent displays, very extensive. Reportedly one of the five best aquaria in the world. Would not honour advertised discount in "Discounted sightseeing Spots List" brochure.

You save about 200-300 yen. Enterance 2300. Subway will cost 200-300 each way. They have a smaller whale shark now, no more sun fish. Hammerhead and manta. Alot to see , get to touch shark n stringray at the end. Would take you 1-1.5 hrs to see the fish.

I arrived at Kaiyukan in the evening. It was not so crowded and quiet. Lights were low like the night sea. We touched the pink sharks and rays. Good experiences.

We loved how this aquarium has to explore the different levels of seal life by spiralling down around a centre tank. It was quite busy when we were there but the crowds flowed fairly well. We opted for the tranist/aquarium combo pass and saved a few thousand yen.

It's a nice aquarium, nothing fancy but too crowded during Spring so the experience isn't that great.

This is a world class aquarium, and well worth a detour. The whale shark was epic, and its 5000 tonne tank equally so.
