Make sure its dry, otherwise you'll not walk the gardens. Hydrofoil is the way to get there. Quite expensive day out, but well worth it. Get there when it opens to avoid queues.

The house is a 'reconstruction' and utterly bling - but I loved it. The grounds are wonderful - but pickpockets are very active here. Two people in my group were robbed while taking a photo in the grounds!
We only took the tour outside although you can tour the house as well. It was raining on the day of our tour but the rain couldn't take away from the beautiful fountains and gardens. It is amazing that all the fountains are gravity fed and have no pumps.
You are in for a treat with all the water features ,beautiful gardens ,grounds and Palace watch out for the trickery
Have only toured the gardens not the palace. The most amazing sight are the cascades in front of the palace, approach from the lower level then climb the steps to view from above.there are many other fountains to see also, some beautiful, some quirky
Make a day of a visit to Peterhof - going by hydrofoil is easy and convenient and takes away the hassle of St Petersburg's traffic jams. It really is spectacular inside the palace but the gardens deserve plenty of time to explore. Try to go when all the fountains are working (after the end of May). Unfortunately the quick lunch...

The complex is very large with lots to see including the palace, the fountains and various other buildings all over the grounds. The fountains are very impressive (they're what you see if most of the photos). At first, I was disappointed because I...

We visited for 3-4 hours on an organised trip. Specially enjoyed wandering round the gardens on a glorious sunny day - the fountains are tremendous.
Peterhof is a wonderful place to see! When I was there, I spent about 10 hours walking and staring at beautiful fountains, thinking about imperial russian family. You'd better come here without any excursions because it's more interesting to discover everything by yourself. I was so impressed with the architecture of the palace, with the HUGE garden with thousands of...

Peterhof Palace was an interesting place to visit. It was completely refurbished after WWII but if you didn't know that it would be impossible to tell. All the details have been recreated down to the elaborate gilding. The gardens were extensive. Being early May, there wasn't much blooming, but it was a relaxing pleasure to stroll the paths among the...
