After visiting the Old Tretyakov Gallery, we decided that the artwork in the newer gallery might be more our thing. We actually walked between the 2. Is not a short walk but it was extremely pleasant along the river and you got some lovely views of Moscow. I would highly recommend entering the gallery via the bottom of the sculpture... More

What an interesting gallery with many different aspects with wonderful art, and I mean art not two dots on a white canvas. Religious and historical items on display. I was so impressed and even found the Patton saint of England amongst the treasures. Not to be missed.

I think this Gallery was a bit of a let-down, compared to the Old Tretyakov. I wished there had been a larger collection of Socialist Realist art on display...that part was a highlight for me. The Kandinsky art was great, too. It was a good outing, but not great. If you don't have a lot of a time, I would... More

Take the Metro to Park Kultury, then walk across the bridge, the cross it (underneath) to get to its left side. Watch out: if you are standing with your back to the river, the Tretyakov entry is at the back of the building. The doors on the side lead into the House of the Artist instead. Housed in an unassuming... More

If you are an art-lover and you want to get to know russian XX century Art, this place is a must-visit! Great collection of Soviet art pieces (incl. Constructivism, Socialist Realism), which not only represents the unique architecture and painting movement, but reveals the Soviet reality and everyday life, as well as political propaganda through art.

This art gallery ranks among the best galleries in the world. The gallery holds visiting collections - which are included in the price. These exhibitions can be very interesting, and are frequently worth visiting. The visiting exhibitions are usually very well arranged, and interesting. The main collections are just out of this world. The gallery space is well arranged, and... More

A gallery dedicated to 20th century Russian art - both those who left and those who stayed home! So it starts with the Impressionist influence at the start of the century and then diverges after the revolution. Both schools well presented, and I learned about many stunning Russian artists I'd never heard of before. The last part has an interesting... More

If you are a serious art lover you will have been to London’s National Gallery, El Prado in Madrid, Le Louvre in Paris and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Metropolitan in New York. But how many have been to the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow? The art establishment wears blinkers. If it Western European it is largely ignored. Most tourists... More
