Though the Park officials discourage visitors from taking the 8 km trek between the Boquete and Punto Cerra sides of the volcano, indeed it is an easy walk. However, they should not have to pay the costs of rescue if you get yourself into trouble. So be respectful. Meet with Park people in advance and hire a guide if you've... More

This National Park borders International Park La Amistad, over one million acres of biosphere reserve. This trail along the union of the two parks is simply sublime! More

Not a lot of incline and a good waterfall at the end. Just take a taxi from town and have them meet you in 2 or 3 hours. More

I stayed in Guadaloupe, an Hotel los Quatzales in the dorms. I arranged for a taxi to pick me up at 730am to take me to the park entrance ($6) It took me 45 minutes to walk up to the rangers station. It is a 4wd gravel road, and is fairly steep, but is nice scenery. Definitely NOT worth paying... More

We walked the trail from Cerro Punta to Boquete on 4th April 2011. The trail is still officially closed but if you have a guide you can do the walk. There are places where the traill is a bit disintegrated and it would be easy to lose the right path. We had a good guide (Sergio) and had no trouble,... More

My daughter and I did this hike from Cerro Punta to Boquete last month and had a wonderful afternoon. Beautiful scenery with lush vegetation, towering trees, misty hills, and intermittent streams. The quiet was interrupted only by bird calls (no quetzales of course). I decided to pay for a comfortable 4wd vehicle to take us to Cerro Punta and pick... More

This is a good hike. In my opinion it doesn't compare to hiking in somewhere like the alps, but it is still a good hike and a great way to see some Panamanian nature. I did it twice: once from each end and both times without a guide. I would recommend starting in Boquete and doing it is a return... More

I already did a lot of hiking in the alps, but it was my first trip to the jungle. Guided with a tour organized by Habla Ya Language School we even stayed overnight in a tent right in the middle of the trail. At the end I was happy to spot a Quetzal among hundreds of other birds and hear... More

If you have the chance to go to Chiriqui, DO NOT MISS the Quetzales trail. In three months of backpacking through Central America this was by far and away my favourite hike. More

I hiked this trail from Cerro Punto to Boquette in September 09. It's a beautiful hike descending from cloud forest to rain forest. A section of the trail is washed out and I'm not sure it I would have been able to follow the trail without a guide. I spent the night in Cerro Punto; and, in the morning, was taken... More
