Wow! I don't even like historical things, but this was so interesting! I completely recommend this fort over any "living forts" because it isn't filled with shops!

Beautiful fort, its well maintained and view from the top is stunning. Best time to visit this place would be morning or late afternoon to catch beautiful sunset. You really don't need a guide if you are on your own or a couple and have enough time to spare. Local guides are generally good and not so expensive. If you... More

Nostalgia of Rajputana days.. We liked it very much considering the huge strong structure, the design which stood the test of the time. One would enjoy it more if able to browse through the history of Rajasthan and particularly, Marwar.

This is one really huge fort with lots of history behind it. Would recommend that if you have time, take headphones instead of a guide. Spare at least half a day for this fort. The view from the fort is breathtaking. You will get a glimpse into the world of kings and queens. Recommend this over the highly overrated Umed... More

Mehrangarh Fort is steeped in history of the Rajputs and offers a spectacular view of the city of Jodhpur. The blue city is unique in the sense that the homes of Brahmins are blue washed and are soothing to the eyes. The forts architecture and its jaalis in various designs are attractive. An ancient temple inside the fort is worth a... More

This fort is in private hands and is perhaps the best maintained fort in India. It is also very grand, built in red/ pink stone. The stone carving is best of all Rajasthan forts. Entry is reasonably priced at 20-25 Rs. for Indians. While inside do not miss the Chokelao Bagh, its being renovated but the garden and views are... More
