There were 3 lakes to see on this trip. Two are thankfully reserved for the birds and nature, one is available to visitors to swim. It is lovely peaceful area. The salt lake was not too cool so we managed a little swim. One bops around like a cork, a very funny feeling indeed. The black mud and salt when... More

Some friends and I took a van from Antofagasta, going through Peine town, the road is sort of good, but it was long. When we get there, we were a little bit tired. The place is so peaceful with a lot of flamincos and other birds, some little lizards were around too. The salar is extrange and beautiful, if you... More

The pink flamingoes were just beautiful. The bathroom facilities are very basic with no water to wash your hands so take your own supplies.

My husband and I visited Salar de Atacama on July, as part of our visit to San Pedro de Atacama. We took a van with other guests of our hotel. First we watched a very informative video about the Salar, which is a very very big flamingo reserve. The reserve is really big and we got to visit just one... More

It is so calm out there you can hear your thoughts. The salt flats are amazing, swimming (or floating!) in the lakes, saltier than the dead sea, is a must!

When my husband chose to visit the Salar de Atacama, I had my concerns. Yet, after traveling close to 2 hours from San Pedro de Atacama, I was very impressed with the natural beauty, interesting landscape, and the flamingos in front of us. It was late in the afternoon and the sky was signaling a potential rain storm with gray... More

It was beautiful, amazing, but it's so far away from civilization that I couldn't tell if the trip worth it or no.

Nice view of the vulcanoes. The salar seems to come from anpther planet. Nicest point is to see the flamingos on their fly. If you enjoy taking pictues- what an opportunity

We, the Hollands couple took a trip to the atacama desert just two years ago. I loved it, very dry area, not even a cactus but, beatiful colors and so peaceful that you can "hear" the silence, I was also amazed at the inmensity of the land, the huge volcanos and fresh pure air, and let's not forget the envigorating...
