This was our first stop on the so-called "Big Circuit" of temples. We climbed up the steep stairs to see the temple and enjoy the views. It was not crowded during our visit (morning at 8:30 am).

Pre Rup is about 500 meters south of the East Baray lies Pre Rup, built by Rajendravarman as his capital after re-establishing Angkor after taking over as king. Pre Rup was at the center of a city that has long since vanished.

Reading the reviews one might think everyone goes here at sunset - not true it was quite crowded by 10:00, but manageable. Entrance is on the Angkor Wat day ticket. We were told this was built by Rajendravarman II and is probably a Royal Crematorium as Pre Rup means turning the body. There are three tiers of the building, access... More

we chanced upon pre rup because previous travellers said that it was a nice place to see the sunset. while we didnt stay long enough to see the sunset the place itself is quite breathtaking. it is older than angkor wat and is made of brick and if you can climb all the way to the top the view is... I have visited this temple three times (twice in autumn and once in spring), and the experience varies significantly according to the time of day, the weather, and the crowds. Because of the very steep flights of steps it's not a lot of fun in a crowd. The views are spectacular on a clear day, and there is a wonderful... More

It may look like another temple in Angkor but it's definitely one of the few great spots for sunset. Quieter than other temples, one can have a peaceful time here to observe the sunset.

It's the first one on our second day visit to Angkor temples. It's surprisingly good to us and a wonderful start of a day

A good place to see sunset instead of Bakreng. Historical temples full of stories. Get a good guide and you will have a lot of fun time exploring the building.

Our intention is to be there for sunset. However, we made it 2 hours earlier than expected after our trip to Kulen. It was a scorching hot day so we just went there for a glimpse. Took photos and left but i would say that one should never miss the sunset there although our guide said that it all depends... More

Loved this temple. it may not look all that to some, but there was so little people here, not one haggler - just one dude selling water. You can climb up and see awesome views and not feel restricted as you cna literally tottle off the edge. just lovely and real nice surprise find that we initially only added in... More
