Brilliant as a 1st time tourist, guides do speak alot of languages, if you go in summer be prepared to wear a hat, the guide will need to be tipped about 500 syrian pounds, There is a little cafeteria at the top that charges triple the price of everything but its not that bad if your a tourist

The streets, the cafes, the hammams, the souks... all are well-preserved and well-presented. A must visit area, especially the new Carlton facing the main entrance of the citadel
