Well we set off to just take a look at the old mill in the middle of the Nantucket neighborhood, but found a man in the back painting the iron hardware. Tom "Terrific" Miner of the Nantucket Historical Society. What a wealth of island & world history he is. We stood behind the old mill for 30+ minutes and discussed... More

Our rental house was just a 2 min. walk from Old Mill so we went there numerous times during the trip to take photos and my husband was there every day. It's a great place to take family photos sitting on the fence and for photographers to get creative with angles. We had fun visiting Old Mill. This is the... More

This is another wonderful property that is owned by the Nantucket Historical Association. We were fortunate to visit the mill on a breezy day and we were actually in the mill when it started to run! Our enthusiastic and knowledgable guide is also an engineer who helps to run the mill, so he had to spring to action several times... More

This is the oldest continually working wind mill in America. It's small, the stairs are steep, but on a good day (depending on wind and weather), cornmeal is ground, a tour is included telling the history of the mill itself. Due to a levy, it is possible to easily lift a 2000 pound grist stone. In the Autumn the Historical... More

We loved this place because of the guide there. My parents came from South Korean to visit us so that we planned to travel Cape Cod and Nanturket. Five of us went to Nanturket. The island was beatiful. You would love to visit there. Although you have to walk a bit to go up there where the oldest mill is... More

We visited the Old Mill during their Harvest Festival and had a blast with fun activities with the kids! The Old Windmill is beautiful (photo#1). We were able to walk inside and see the huge stone (photo#2) which grinds corn (actually does grind corn and you can buy bags of cornmeal). You can walk upstairs and see where the corn... More
