Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Been coming here for 26 years. Get there early to get good spot on the sandy beach. We visit before the lifeguards start for the season as you can't have any kind of tubes or floats in the water once the lifeguards are on duty. There are bathrooms, free parking, shady spots, an ice cream truck that i swear comes every 20 minutes, area to put kayaks/canoes in, a walking trail, fishing off to one side. Convenient to downtown.

On a gorgeous fall day, my dog and I hiked along the lake by following the trail to the right side of the beach. The views of the lake and the foliage was gorgeous. My dog loved it and had many opportunities to swim in the lake.

This lovely lake is shallow, does not allow powerboats, so kayaking and paddle boarding is great because the water is not chopped up by the boats. The lake has a protected cove which is great for paddle practice. The lake also has a small sandy beach that is great for kids. Dogs are prohibited during the summer, which is a very good thing, keeping the beach and water cleaner.

This was my first trip here. A great spot for a little fresh water beach time, especially for families with small children. But we were here to Kayak, and it is a good spot for leisurely lake kayaking, and up the powwow river. No admission/parking fee and easy put in at end of beach area. Entrance is off High St, and is easy to miss. Do not follow google gps, as it takes you to a dead end street with NO access

what more can I add. This is a lake, not well known that it's there. You can have shade, (if you stake your claim early enough) Lifeguards are vigilant, the water warm and generally clean.

Great beach - plenty of public parking - canoe and paddle board rentals available. Close to downtown center.

Great place to cool off, mellow out with the grandkids. Good for a couple of hours of diversion: nice beach, flowing waters, scenic view.

Looking for a warm lake where we could take a quick swim in the hot weather (the ocean being still too cold), we found Gardner on a local map. it was a quick drive, had well-arranged parking and a lovely sandy beach where children and parents were swimming and playing. There is a beach house with restrooms and a lifeguard, but nothing more--no food stands or commercial places--and the lake is cool and lovely, surrounded by woods.

Lake Gardner is a clear water lake with free parking. On weekends, you can rent kayaks (single or double seated) and canoes. There are lifeguards on duty, plus a public bathroom. AND, the Ice Cream truck stops by every so often to allow you to enjoy a frosty treat. We live at the other end of the lake and love kayaking and swimming there in the summer, and snowshoeing and cross-country skiing there in the winter months. I highly recommend this beach (esp. because it is so much warmer than the ocean!). Try it, you'll love it!
