The academy is elegant, very, very tidy... feels like a park by the water and is filled with items of interest. Included in 'items' are an impressive chapel, a row of officers' houses (attached, with matching awnings, identical front lawns... plantings), the dormitory that houses ALL 4,000 plus cadets, lots of formal, institutional buildings and of course... Billy the charging goat.... More

By all means take a walking tour of the U.S. Naval Academy. The waterfront is beautiful. Be sure to walk out to the U.S.S. Maine Memorial to remember those brave sailors lost in Cuba when their Battleship was sunk in Havana Harbor. Look for the tall U.S.S. Maine Ship's Mast; its the prettiest waterfront view in all of Maryland! A... More

With an afternoon to kill before flying home, I took a colleague's recommendation and went to check out the naval academy. It was worth it, a beautiful setting great architecture and plenty to look at, the perfect antidote to dreary Baltimore.

I would have never guessed how impressive the Naval Academy in Annapolis would be. Plus the town is filled with fun places to eat and see. Most impressive is the 4000 person dorm, a city within a city. The French architecture is impeccable and perfect. Check out the stadium and the gymnasiums. And the chapel is just beautiful!

Plan on at least 2 hours if you really want to enjoy everything to see. We spend over 3 hours. Visit the museum, the chapel. Just walk the grounds. There is history everywhere you look. Visit the information center, they will help you with your plans. There is also tour you can take. Something for everyone.

My husband and I (plus our 16-month old) visited the Academy with our brother who is in active service in the Navy. The good: we were able to drive in to the Academy and park inside, because my brother's car has the DoD Decal. Score. The not-so-good: We arrived at 10am on a Tuesday and we had to park waaaaaaaaaaaaaay... More

The Naval Academy is a must see for anyone, especially those having a military background. Our tour was very reasonably priced and our guide did a wonderful job. Just walking around the academy was wonderful but with the addition of having first hand information via our guide put our walking tour over the top. If I were to go back... More

Great info on the tour though its an overview. Leave time to go back and look at those areas that are particularly interesting.

The Naval Academy is a must if you find yourself in Annapolis. Take the free tours of the Academy to learn the most about the school. Preble Hall is a museum for those who like small scale models of ships, otherwise walk the grounds and take in the Rotunda with "Don't Give Up the Ship" or the Chapel and Crypt,... More

We visited on a day when the rain never stopped - it was beautiful even so. We started at the Visitors' Center (Gate 1) where helpful attendants had maps, directions & anecdotes to help us determine our walk. The visitors' map identifies each building, where visitors can have lunch, what's happening and when. There is also a huge gift shop... More
