It's the Panama Canal! What else is there to say about a place I have wanted to see since fifth grade geography. Simply fascinating to see up close and in person. If you have time to see one thing in Panama this would definitely be the place.

Really appreciated getting all the background and information that made the canal so much more than just some water. Cool background and engineering information and a great view of the activity in the canal
The intro 3-D film followed by the escalators to each level provided a museum experience that answers your curiosity about the Panama - terrific exhibits at the 4th level - you can sit in a simulated control tower then venture out on the 4th floor observation deck to see the tugs accompany the ship through the locks. It takes 15...

There was nothing I didn't like about Miraflors Locks, though one does get a closer view at the Gutan locks towards the Atlantic side. The Miraflors had wifi and I could share pictures right from the site.
We went there thinking "We had to visit this". After all, you're in Panama, you gotta see the Canal, right?
It turned out to be quite a nice experience. Take a look at the museum, then go up and see the boats pass thru the canal. On the day we visited, a narrator with a microphone made things all the...

At first i had a hard time spending 8 bucks, which in America isnt much but seemed a bit much in Panama, but we really enjoyed it. It really is a marvel. You have to go either in the morning or afternoon to really see it. it was awesome
Fantastic site of the locks. Definitely worth stopping here if you visit Panama. The museum is just ok, but you could go through pretty quickly if you chose to. There is a four floors & a simulator in there that pretty neat to check out. The 3D movie is decent (or at least gets you in AC for about 10...

Everything here is geared to making the visit an excellent one. Certainly worthwhile to get an understanding of how the locks work. Get there at 1:00 so you have time to see the museum and the video, then watch the ships pass through.
No trip to Panama would be complete without a vist to the Miraflores Locks Visitor Center. Located inland from Panama City, it is a modern visitor's center. All in both English and Spanish. The 3D movie is worth seeing, as are the ships as they transit the canal, pulled along by the little train engines. The museum and book store...

I was a bit disappointed by the museum and the movie (not a must), which did not really explain much. I wished there were more about the recent enlargement of the canal and the new locks. But it is nice little visit. The must-do is the terrace, from which you can take time to watch the super-tankers get through several...
