Seeing this museum allowed our family to learn a lot about the history of Ecuador and Latin America through the eyes of a wonderful artist. The museum was worth the money because we got an excellent explanation of his art. The house tour was neat to see, but it did get a little bit long because they explained every piece... More

This is the home-museum of Guayasamin, a genius comparable to Picasso in some regards. The house is fantastic, oevrlloking Quito on a hill. I truly enjoyed the house because you can even stroll his studio, where unfinished pieces are still displayed. It's a must for art lovers visiting Quito

beautiful, vibrant paintings, a real discovery for us. The tour was in Spanish but easy to follow with limited Spanish. The video on him was very interesting - short and shows his style of working. Fabulous views of Quito. Really glad we visited. We had a driver that day so it made it easy for us to visit as not... More

We didn't know this artist and were so glad we went to his museum and house way up on a hill. The architecture of the museum fits perfectly into the landscape and was built for Guayasamin's works. Make sure you tour his house also. We took a cab up there but walked down the hill and enjoyed the views and... More

The art of Guayasamin is extremely powerful but not especially positive in its outlook - a visit here needs a guide who can convey the meaning of his art and what he is trying to communicate - otherise you may come away as we did mooved but not especially happy...

His art is great and the chapel and house were worth the visit. His style and skill is Picaso like and has real class.

If you don't know anything about Ecuadorian artists, this will be a fabulous introduction. His house is on the property, and is filled with his collections, his studio and his art. The chapel has the larger works. There is going to be a museum on the property but hasn't started being built yet.

Guyasamin was an interesting guy. A Quechua Indian and artist. Supposedly an advocate or the downtrodden, but a good friend of Fidel Castro. He was anti religion, but collected colonial Spanish and Ecuadorian religious art. Interesting place to see especially his lavish mansion set on a hill overlooking the poor of Quito.
