Really unique, fascinating building and decor. Visit the artist's house nearby as well - a good tour and amazing collection of artwork and artifacts.
My husband and I do enjoy art, but have never both been so moved and inspired than by the artist Guayasamin. If paintings can talk, then it's these. But that is not all, it is the whole experience and location.
The artist is little known outside of Ecuador (and is considered to be an Ecuadorian treasure0 or serious students of the modern art period but this is a museum building not to be missed. It is striking in the design as well as location on the side of a high hill overlooking Quito. The views are worth it. A visit... More
This is a good museum if you are a fan of Oswaldo Guayasamin's art, which focuses on the suffering of oppressed people across the Americas. it is slightly out of the way and getting a taxi after your visit can be challenging. Beautiful art and home to visit. The tour was excellent and guides are very well informed. We got half price tickets because the power was out when we went, but it came on halfway through! We spent a few extra minutes hanging out on the lawn and having a coffee, admiring the spectacular view. It is a very interesting place... More
The guided tour of this museum was very interesting. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about all of the artwork, as well as the artist and local history. A must for anyone visiting Quito.
A very impressive art musuem with good views of the city and surrounding mountains. Its far from the rest of the city so make sure you take a taxi or something to get there, you can't really walk there.
