There are a lot of interesting stalls in the market and the locals are here too so it makes for a great place to sight see as well as actually shop. Do be aware that there are a few pickpockets so guys on bicycles bumping into you and young children are normal. Apart from that the spice stalls colours are... More

Aswan is a very attractive town and compared to Cairo relatively clean and much less dusty. The bazaar here is not a bad place to spend an hour wandering - this is also a place where locals shop so it is not entirely for tourists. Once again becasue there are so few tourists visiting at the moment times are tough... More

Really great and huge market! Vendors are not as aggressive as other street vendors in Egypt. Haggle hard! And enjoy

Just returned from 2 wonderful weeks in Aswan. The Nile at Aswan is the most beautiful part of the River. The weather was very hot but it was so relaxing taking a boat on the Nile in the heat of the afternoon. Sailing around the many islands and watching the sun go down. Aswan is the ideal place to stay... More

After cruising down the River Nile from Luxor, we docked at Aswan on the 4th day. Had heard so much about the Aswan market that a group of us were so keen to pay a visit to this interesting outdoor place. Taking a stroll in the evening after dinner was nice. You will see locals and tourists bargaining hard with... More

I love this kind of market - the crowd bustling with energy and life on these narrow lanes that house markets stalls and shops. You must be good at haggling though! make sure you always pay at least half of what they offer you otherwise you will have asted a lot of money. There is so much to buy and... More

These were the best markets in the whole of Egypt. Perhaps it was because we had the best best guide in Egypt who took us to these markets. Thanks Aswany.

My group visited Aswan toward the end of our Egyptian vacation, so by the time we reached this wonderful town, we already had experience passing through throngs of vendors all trying to sell their wares, sometimes aggressively. Aswan, however, is a city where many Nubians who were displaced by the rising waters of Lake Nasser settled. These people are fun... More

If you walk along the Nile foreshore in Aswan, you are sure to be hassled by people wanting to sell you something or give you a ride. A common thing is for the horse and cart drivers to offer to take you to the markets for 5 Pound. They then take you to a friends shop and say that they... More
