amazing engineering built without a foundation, still a functioning church. Near to the place where they believe to have found Moses as a baby in the Nile.

Entrance courtyard is extremely inviting and holds tons of history concerning the Flight to Egypt of the Holy Family. Church itself is very interesting with beautifully designed interior and inlayed wood doors and walls. Also, areas where you can see through to the covered fort below are quite interesting and unique feature to this particular site...hence the name "hanging church".

The church is worth a visit especially as part of old or Coptic Cairo but do not expect some miracle of suspension. The interior of the church is interesting but needs the whole area to be visited to make it worthwhile.

Coptic churches are different than other Christian and orthodox churches. It is old, with lot of artifacts and very well maintained. When walking Coptic Cairo, this is the MUST place to visit.
