This is a very nice place, but is hard to get there and you need to have a 4x4 transportation as the road is in very bad shape. Once you get there and you pay your entry, the walk to the top is hard and you reach the 3000 mts! So, you need to be in good physical shape and... More

It has a new view. I passed here for a few minutes but it is absolutely beautiful. If you go there you can visit the city and Guasca.

We took a tour to Laguna de Guatavita with Mark from Columbian Way. It's a good hike but worth the view. Mark's amusing and interesting stories made the trip even better. We combined it with a trip to the Salt Cathedral. It was a terrific day.

A little bit fare, but worth a visit. A good guide will make this visit more complete as there is a lot of history behind this place.

I would recomend going here with a guide to fully appreciate the historic meaning of this place if you have not read up on the legend of El Dorado before visiting. We were very impressed with this and the historic meaning of this place blows you away!!

My friend and I were set up by our hotel with an all day tour of the Laguna, the (new) town of Guatavita, and the salt cathedral through the following company: http://pasosporcolombia.com/ Given how Laguna de Guatavita was only a small part of the tour, it was enjoyable, but I wouldn't spend all day there. It was maybe a half... More

I decided to take a trip to see the Lake Guatavita, basis for the Eldorado legend As a driver and same time guide...or guia in Spanish, I used the services of Gilberto Talero. Well, apart from the fact that he spoke better English than any driver I have encountered in my many visits to Colombia, Gilberto was both incredibly informative and... More

This is pretty. No translation for non spanish speaking tourists. Hundreds of steps and a one way trail. I had a sore foot so by the end I was in agony. You have to pay for a bus back to the car park. No public bus came back for us so we got a ride with a family. Wouldn't bother... More

This was a beautiful park that is very well maintained. It takes about a hour and a half to get there on a very scenic ride. The road could use a little work but so do all the other roads in Colombia. The cost was very cheap and comes with a tour guide. You will walk about 2 km and... More

I had not been there for 20 years! The Laguna de Guatavita is a sacred lagoon for the native indians. Many say it is the place where El Dorado was. The park (it now a protected national park) is well set, with friendly guides, good signposted trails and spectacular views. I can recommend it as a great day trip from... More
