We walked through the campus to get down to the corniche. The buildings are beautiful and there are some stunning vantage points looking down to the Mediterranean. Plenty of greenery and peace in what can be a chaotic city.

A great visit - particularly if you love the "campus atmosphere"...large grounds, great gardens, direct access to the corniche... We visited on two days - once during the Lebanese Easter Weekend, when AUB had their "Outdoor Festival" (nice spirit, family-fun, a variety of foods) - as well as on another "normal" campus day when we visited the Archeological Museum, wich...

This campus is a great place to walk around and people watch. People of all walks of life. Some of the cheapest restaurants but really good are found in the area near the main gain. Only a short 5min walk from the main drag in Hamra.
If you're walking past AUB, you'll surely notice the interesting graffiti all around, which provides for nice photo opportunities. If you want a cheap bite to eat, go in the evening and you'll find all sorts of little shops open, including a few fantastic creperies. (I recommend that you get a crepe with Lotus spread. It may not be Lebanese,...

I always think of AUB as Beirut's Central Park. Escape the busy city streets and enjoy peace, tranquility, greenery, and a great view of the Mediterranean. With the exception of the most recent construction (still in progress), all AUB buildings are beautiful and historic. If you're visiting Lebanon, don't miss the opportunity to visit AUB! Just go to the Main...
