This is a great Mosque that was originally a christian church. Overrun by the Ottoman empire in 1452 the Christian symbols were covered over as it was converted to a mosque. Ran into a group of students from my son's university in side

Well worth a visit. Full of history and culture. Take your time and enjoy. There were people that only cared about taking pics (even though you are not supposed) and running off to the next site.
One of the landmarks to visit while in Istanbul ... A must visit even though it is still under restoration ...
A beautiful place with very interesting history. Suggest purchase of a guide book or tour guide. Definately worth a visit.

Historical church/mosque with a unique blend of religious history. Here you don't need to wear a scarf since it is now a museum, plan to spend some time to appreciate the architecture

So much to view, take as many pics as you can as this is so beautiful and historic. Mind blowing history to the place! We had our own guide (just 2 of us) was so much better. Learnt so much!!
We bought the museum pass, which advertised that you skip the lines. We still stood in line for over an hour, thought I guess we skipped the ticket line, though the entrance line was staggering.
Viewed the Mosque without a tour guide so we lost some idea for translation of culture. Be careful though of random locals looking for money to give tour. Odd that this is allowed for a religious structure.
