The art work spread out over so much space was interesting, I found some of it repetitive- the frames were gorgeous, and the old building is a treasure.

Good display of pieces from around the War, as well as some things from the 1400s, 1600s. You can get a sense of what the official preference is as far as subject matter and style. Notably missing are any more modern, abstract or avante garde pieces, which, in itself is an interesting statement. Walkable to other sites: Our complete day... More

Had a wide range of artworks to look at and set out beautifully. It is a pretty big space so we didn't see all of the museum but what we did see was interesting.

I was pleasantly surprised by the range of works in the Museum - buddhist sculptures, artifacts, lacquer paintings, silk paintings, folk art, woodblocks. Entrance fee: 20,000 VND ($1). Close by is Temple of Literature also worth a visit. Need a drink or some great food visit KOTO opposite Temple of Literature in Van Meiu Street.

Although a little bit old and confused (the place has two buildings and the exhibition continues from one to another) I liked very much this museum. They have a comprehensive collection of Vietnamese art from different periods until today and it was good to see that. That's exactly what I expect from a fine arts museum.

I enjoyed this museum very much. The guide had a great appreciation for the Cham and Buddhist art and added to the experience. A good look at the culture over the years.

If you are going to visit this attraction go with a good guide who can put the art into historical context.

A great collection of both traditional and contemporary Vietnamese art (with emphasis on paintings). Good explanations in Vietnamese and English. Internal signposting is a little confusing but otherwise a very interesting visit. Not too many visitors when I was there, so very quiet and unrushed. In the front courtyard there is a little restaurant (The Match Box) serving Vietnamese and... More

Not on the usual tourist list. A Gem of a gallery and a must see. Our hotel told us about this, so we took their advice.

The first impression is of a rather small and darkish place, and after paying for a ticket (about 60 Euro cent!) one perhaps doens't expect all that much. Some of the exhibits on the ground floor where one starts are also not too well labelled, giving the impression that this is a typical third-world museum that's poorly maintained. Not true,... More
