Good way to see rural areas around Chiang Mai. Nice landscape, farming land, rice fields. The cave is very big, and most of it doesn't have electricity, then you should pay a guide with a Lamp to take you trough the cave. Exploring the cave, trough tiny passages, just with a lamp for all the family.... make this visit so... More

You can travel and make a good thing (about Buddhist) at here. At the cave have a guide to help you but now have a child waiting inside to take a photo.

The cave was our first stop as we began driving the Mae Hong Son loop. It was low season and once we found the cave area, we found it quite difficult to locate the cave entrance. We found the 'do not enter without a guide' sign at the entrance quite misleading and tagged on the end of an American tour... More

I wanted to see the area around Chiang Dao and took in the cave as part of the day out. I hired private transport and we headed off north out of Chiang Mai. The drive was very pleasant with some lovely scenery to drive through, mostly along the river Ping tributary. Really good roads all the way to Chiang Dao... More

A little over an hours drive north of Chiang Mai. A nice motorbike ride north of the city on highway 107. A little busy in the Mae rim area but after that it is a nice ride in the country side. It's easy to find and well marked with lot's of nice things to see along the way. Once there,... More

There is a small walk of about 15-20 mins that you can do alone but the longer walk 30-45 mins needs a guide with a paraffin lamp as it is very dark. The guide costs 100THB and then you are shown a laminated note that says the guide expects a 100THB tip! They make sure you understand this before you... More

A very interesting place to visit, inside the cave there is are many relics and, watch out for the bats! Also outside the cave there is a huge fish pond where you can feed the huge fish. A few minutes drive away is a very well preserved and ancient Wat (temple) I was fortunate as the owner of goodtreeart where... More

ancient Burmese Buddha images near very important Chiang Dao mountain. Can make a pleasant day trip, 1) to Chiang Dao Elephant Camp early morning; 2) on to Caves; 3) late lunch and maybe stay overnight at the Chiang Dao Nest cottages with excellent Thai and Western restaurants

Chian Dao Cave is both nature and man creation - temple inside the cave. Take your time and explore the territory around the cave: 1000 year old chedi half hidden in the jungle, monks cemetery and houses, very local market. If you have some more time go to the monastery on the slope of the mountain, surrounded by jungle. Don't... More
