It was a nice drive through the hills to this temple. As per norm, amazing work on the temple. The elevator to the top was a nice welcome. Only thing there was no sun so wasn't able to see the sunset.

It's easy to get "templed out" in Thailand but this one is definitely worth a visit. It's beautiful and also affords a good view over the local area if the sky is clear.
Some of the carving on the wooden pillars is spectacular and the overall craftmanship of the whole complex is breathtaking. It reminds you how important Buddhism still...

At the bottom of the 260 steps, there are Thai men available to give you a very short scooter ride to the temple. It's worth the 40 baht and you can take the steps coming DOWN to see the snake railings.
I am not into seeing dozens of temples, but this one was really worth it. Took taxi to top of mountain outside of Chiang Mai - took about 45 mins to get there. You either take an elevator to top for 20B (+ entrance fee of 30B) or can walk the 300 or so stairs to top. Much cooler up...

A must see site if you visit Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is set on a rich flood plain with the Mae Ping over meandering through if and surrounded by mountains. The most impressive of these is Doi Suthep which can be seen from anywhere in the city and from which you can see everywhere in the city. At it's peak...

The Temple perched some 1000 meters high in the hilltops overlooking Chiang Mai is a wonderful experience. The journey up the hill is scenic and the rewards are obvious once reaching the top. The final ascent is, if I recall correctly 350 or via cable car. In any case once atop the golden Wat is a most beautiful sight and...

The climb up the 300 odd stairs is well worth it with beautiful views over Chiang Mai (though it can be a bit hazy in March and April due to the burning of prior to the wet season). You can take the easy way up on the cable train. The temple is beautiful with lovely orchids and trees and dint...

I have often been up to Doi Suthep and have never grown tired of it. It is a beautiful temple, steeped in history and a very important site for Thai Buddhists. The local adage is that if you have not visited Doi Suthep, then you have never truly been to Chiang Mai. I would agree as it encapsulates all the...

My husband and I visited the temple on a Sunday morning around 7 am. Prior to coming up to the temple we stopped to see the alms offerings to the monks. The visit was a part of our day tour so we arrived by car. I suggest an early morning arrival to avoid the crowd. The temple and the surroundings...

I really enjoyed visiting this temple, and the story behind how it was established. The gold(en) stupa up on the mountain is magnificent!
But also the steps up to the temple (we took the cable cart up and the steps back down), the temples and little garden around it are very nice. Of course them there's the unhindered view over...
