When we visited, nobody went there so we got liberty taking pictures and enjoying the view and the ruins. Beautiful!
Although not much is left from the Merenid Tombs, the place allows for a breath-taking view of the old Medina! Worth the visit! Catch a petit-taxi.
This is a classic place to view Fes and beyond, and the Hotel Merenides is great for coffee/tea and cooling off after a bit of sightseeing. Outside of the city, you should take a cab. Not much to see, but it is beautiful- read about it before you go as there are no signs of any kind- it has a gorgeous view of the city, and you can walk back into the medina (all downhill).

Great views and not hard to get to by walking or in a taxi. There is a castle just down from the tombs which is great to walk around and has an arms museum inside.

You could take a taxi at the Bab Bou Jeloud to here for max 10 dirham. Afterwards we walked back over the path on the hill where you see all the animal skins drying at the... More
We spent a nice late afternoon at the tombs, just enjoying the view of Fes el Bali and hanging out with the locals. Such a lovely place - in spite of being fairly "touristic" thanks to the locals who like to come, it is a lovely and non-hassle place.
