While we didn't book a tour through Max, we did book a transfer from San Ignacio to our hotel near Tikal. The transfer was very smooth, and we appreciated having someone at the border to help us through safely. The price of the direct bus from Belize City to Flores is the same that Max charges for a transfer directly... More

I was on the same tour as Stephlow below. I agree that out of all our tour guides and drivers, Max was the friendliest and most helpful. On our first day in San Ignacio, we happened to run into Max on the street. After chatting and arranging a trip to Guatemala, he offered an impromptu tour around town. Out of... More

Max was friendly and did not try to pressure us into a tour. When we decided to go to Tikal he arranged it all effortlessly. He drove us to the border and then another driver took us to and from Tikal and Max was there to pick us up. The actual tour guide in Tikal was mediocre but I most... More

Max is the bomb diggity! There were 16 of us who are teaching in San Pedro for 5 weeks. We had a day off in San Ignacio and told max what all we wanted to do. He hooked us up with a sweet tour of Guatemala. We went zip-lining, toured Tikal, and visited Flores. We went to him with a... More

Two american girls, a rental truck and (very) strong attempt to get to Tikal on the same evening that our 2pm flight had landed in Belize City - may have proved to be a wee bit ambitious. After getting past the Guatemalan border round sunset with limited hassle we drove in the dark Guatemalan countryside, for an hour before we... More

We spent over 10 days in San Ignacio area. We were fortunate we got to meet Max and His crew. He was very knowledgeable, always on time (or before), and the most important - very genuine. We went with Max on several tours. He and his guys never hesitated to get out of their way to make our journey even... More

We had a fabulous long weekend in San Ignacio! We had no confirmed plans when we arrived, however we were graciously accomodated by Max, Douglas (our driver), and Peter (our guide) through out our stay. On our first day we elected a day trip to Caracol, Rio Frio Cave & Altun-On Pools. We were picked up first thing in the... More

I used Maximum Adventure Tours to go to Tikal. I knew that as a single person in the low season I might run into problems with getting the tours I wanted and I was glad Max agreed to take me to Tikal (along with 3 other people) and come back the next day to take me back to Belize -... More

My experience with Max began at his office and ended at Tikal, Guatemala. He was upfront about the price, was very informative and also quite entertaining. He took the time to stop along the way and educate us on local herbal remedies and pointed out any significant landmarks. He has a great sense of humor and we felt like we'd... More

We took two tours with Maximum - Tikal/Flores all day trip from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. Transition at the border was smooth and the drive to Tikal was beautiful, our local Guatemalan guide was excellent with a great sense if humor. Lunch that was provided after Tikal before heading to Flores was tasty and just what we needed after... More
