This place is probably pretty cool to spend some time looking around in, but my wife and I couldn't spend more than about 3 minutes there as we were getting eaten alive by mosquitos. The ruins aren't like some of the other sites in Belize with large pryamids so you'll really have to want to see it. Wear long sleeves/pants... More

Jan Brown has put her heart and soul into showing the Mayan ruins. She has a passion to protect and to tell the stories of the past. Excellent tour for a reasonable price for history buffs!

hot in the jungle and bring bug spray but well worth it walk. You walk in 1/4 mile on a wooden boardwalk. The tour is self guided so it is very easy to follow with lots of information on the site. We were there for about 2 hours

This was the fifth Maya site we visited while in Belize, and although it was definitely the smallest, I'm glad we went. We had rented a golf cart for the day since it was cloudy, and this was a great reason to head south on the island. The thing that makes this site unique is that artifacts are spread all... More

Marco Gonzales Maya site is well worth the (often) bumpy trip 5 1/2 miles south of San Pedro. Understand that it was only recently discovered, so there's not much to look at if you're expecting towering temples and murals, calendar recreations, and guides with interesting stories to tell. Going in with no expectations and a vivid imagination will reward you... More

Your journey begins walking over a rustic boardwalk through the jungle where you find evidence of the Maya through pottery and the like. Make sure you load up on bug spray however!

The walk into and through the jungle/wetlands was amazing! We saw a small snake, crabs, spiders, and a few species of exotic birds. It was quite the experience! The ruins weren't very complete, and they are still a work in progress. I would definitely recommend going here on a nice morning while it's still cool outside! One of my highlights... More

Although a little off the beaten path, the trip down island is worth it. Still a work in progress I would assume but intersting that the site should be found in such a remote area of an island quite unlike those discovered on the Belizean mainland.

I liked that this site is a work in progress and I could use my imagination about how people worked and lived---use bug spray
