We didn't go in, but walked the Mall at night and this building was gorgeous! It's a must see while you're here.
We were unable to get in for a tour within the time we had available, so were very disappointed. Otherwise, a normal external "we-were-there" photo opportunity.
Pre booked a tour using the internet. Booked for 9.50 originally but we arrived at 9.05 and so they transferred us to the 9.10 am tour. We were given headphones to listen to our tour guide. These tended to lose reception when he went ahead into another room but it was not a major issue. The guide was very informative... More
I recommend signing up for a tour. It's free, but they fill up quickly so plan accordingly. Amazing art and the tour guides are really knowledgable. Afterwards you can visit the senate and house chambers. Very cool to sit and watch. We weren't there when the house and senate were in session but it would be amazing to go when... More
Worth a visit due to its political and historical importance. Lots of statues, but not very well displayed. We had an organised tour which was worth having as the guide explained various pictures and statues and added some colour commentary. Free entry and tour.
Today, after spending about 4 hours visiting the Library of Congress (November 30, 2013), I learned that there is a underground passage that connects it to the Congress Building or the Capitol. After checking in my personal stuffs at the Guard Station, I walked through this passage for about 3-5 minutes. (Note that water is not allowed at this point... More
I was surprised by the beauty and grandure of the US Capitol... maybe it is just one of those images you see so often that you have expectations of it, the real place far exceeded those expectations! The grounds and building are magnificent! The interior is equally impressive and the tour taught us so much. I had no idea what... More
We visited here as part of a tour group and were dropped off in front of the Capitol, but they weren't doing tours, so all we could really do was take a few photos from outside. They do have some nice statues near the reflecting pool though.
After many visits we finally booked a tour of the Capitol and were so glad we had done so. The tour guides were excellent and we saw parts of the Capitol we never would have been able to see otherwise. The art and the history is interesting and it was quite comprehensive. This is a MUCH better tour than the... More
With only 4 days in DC this was amongst the "must do" attractions. We had pre-booked from the Uk and the tour and our tour guide were exceptional. The guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The parts of the Capitol we visited were interestring from an architectural and historiacal point of view. Following the tour we obtained tickets to the... More
