Very pleasant weekend. Everything in walking distance. Old town mostly closed to traffic which is good. Lots of places to eat, just wander down the cobbled streets: you can't get lost.
Tallinn was a stop on our Celebrity Cruise. The big venues were St Petersburg, and Helsinki, Stockholm. We wondered why we would stop there - "must be a filler" we thought. Wrong. Tallinn is a beautiful town, nice people, easy walk from the ship and great shopping. The prices there are much better than St Petersburg. We tried the number... More
The Christmas Market is so wonderful and magical. Lovely architecture, pristine streets and many shops, restaurants and sites. I would go back in a heart beat.
This World heritage site is the best maintained old town which you can walk around for hours. has beautiful medieval architecture. at town hall square, there are many nice restaurants. just sit outside n njoy d food with great views.
of course the architecture is overwhelming. the upper and the lower towbn are both captivating, full of history. a guided tour is perfect to capture the most important highlights. then a walk by oneself is certainly crucial to let it sink it. nevertheless i found tallinn a bit superficial. everything is geared up for tourists. nobody seem to live there... I find some old towns are so restored they end up looking like a caricature of itself. But not Tallin. Its small and easily walked in a couple of hours. Really lovely buildings. But a few less amber shops would be nice!
Is something amazing. It is quite authentic and has almost no new or modern buildings. So it is like going back in time. And at the same time it has very good restaurants and bars to spend time and enjoy quality food.
Tallin Old Town is lovely. We enjoyed walking around within the walled city and from the outside looking at the various entry towers. Lots of cobblestone streets, old buildings, shops and restaurants. Something for everyone!
So nice!! Walking through the small street of the old town is really special, the atmosphere of quiet ,during the evening, and peace that you can feel is uncomparable....relaxing. I was also lucky to be there during the first days of the christmas markets, so cool...drunk a lot of hot wine for keep me warm and resist against the cold... More
