Would recommend a visit out to the fort but take a taxi and do not lose heart when you appear to go into an industrial estate. Site is very cold in winter as unheated, but well presented and the extra 10lts for an excellent guide who was both informative and interesting and also spoke good english was definitely recommended.

If you have never seen these kinds of Soviet monuments, then it would be interesting. But much better examples can be found in Russia or Ukraine. You won't regret not seeing it, better to spend your time elsewhere if it is limited.

Historical place, that's worth a visit. Much history about the baltic countries and especially WW2. We took a taxi here from Kaunas centre and you get to see a lot of the surroundings while travelling to the Ninth Fort.

The exhibitions are very well presented. I learnt a lot about the Soviet and Nazi occupations of Lithuania.

The Ninth Fort was very interesting and worth every minute spent there. The female guide was very sweet and well informed. Her English was also very good.

Seeing the fances, the cells and imagine the guards with their dogs... My husband,s father was here... Shivering feeeling in our bodies and souls... The place is so threatening, yet even from this some have managed to escape. It is important to vistit, pay respect to the victims and always remember for ever and ever. be on guard. That this... Very informative way of finding out about the horrors of Soviet and Nazi ocupations. Advisable to ask for a guide, so you wont get lost in the dungeons.

The park is great leisure : walks, picnics, cycle rides, etc. until you start thinking about the real purpose those trenches served and the pain that took place behind the cold walls of the prison building. If you are out for some history and "after-Nazi creeps" go ahead and visit the museum - I really recommend. Otherwise just enjoy the... More

nearly every city in Lithuania has his Jewish mass graveyard, where in the last world war tens of thousands of Jews were killed. In this particular fortress happened to the same. There is an enormous concrete statue which, in my view, is probably one of the most prominent statutes in this style in the world.
