A little disappointed. The building has been very well converted and is interestingly done but the actual exhibits were disappointing. There were no audio guides and just some typed info in English. Many of the exhibits had no English translation or sub titles. There seemed to be many gaps in the history leaving unanswered questions but this may have been... More

The way this museum told the Hungarian history of Nazism and then Communism was well designed and impactful. Such great design. My only complaint was having to pick up pieces of paper in each room to read the actual history. It seems like they could have done that in a more organic way, so people are standing around reading.

The museum subject matter is very well presented, using a range of display techniques (ie: video, artifacts, maps, recreations, recordings, etc.). While horrifying at times, the subject matter is presented in a thoughtful fashion and though it can feel emotionally exhausting, it is well worth visiting to learn about this period in Hungarian history.

I had some issues with this place. When we first arrived it was difficult to find signs in English that explained what the prices were and if there was a tour or audio tour for that matter. Once we figured out how much to pay we proceeded to the inside of the museum. You are greeting by a HUGE tank!... More

Allow 1hr to go trough and read all the print outs which give a detailed insight into the grim past that the locals had to endure for such a long time and as recent as 1990! This is definitely a must to get an introduction into the history of Budapest.

I found the museum to be very well presented and educational. If you are interested in Hungarian history, then a visit to the "House of Terror" is essential. Allow approximately two hours for the visit.

We travel to see the world - and if that means more than gorgeous cathedrals and beautiful cities to you, then you have to spend a couple of hours at the House of Terror at Budapest. I visited both Prague and then Budapest on this trip and their contrasts fascinate me. I think of Prague as being a beautiful woman,... More

A rather eye opening trip ,very sad and thought provoking visit especially if you you talk to the Hungarians who remember the torture and terrible times. you see villages virtually wiped out and so many people vanished at the hands of the secret police.

Beautiful museum in a historic setting. Unfortunately they titled all places in Hungarian and it is not so big but a historic place. Great neighborhood with a good Italian restaurant just down the street (Millenium da Pippo) or the Ecocafe next door.
