The towers and walls were really nice to visit, also offering great views of Parliament and the rest of the Pest side. It was nice to take the Siklo up to the area and walk over, and visiting Matthias Church nearby was fun too. Definitely one of the best parts of the trip exploring that area.

The church is still under restoration (mainly in the old Muslim corner of the church) but has otherwise been beautifully restored, including a new roof. Well worth a visit.

It is also located in the most charming historic district of Buda. Wonderful area to walk around. We went there to see St Matthias Church--closed early and couldn't enter, but were delighted to see the neighborhood.

Try and go early in the morning because as soon as everyone is awake..... it's sooooo busy. Beautiful buildings and surroundings, though!

The Fisherman's Bastion right next to the St-Matthias Church is a great place to visit. Nice atmosphere, great architecture.

It is worth the effort to get up to the Fishermans Bastion and take in St Matthias Church too. As far as photographs are concerned your own personal ones with a view from the bastion go to the left hand side as you look at it and you will get a great photograph of the river and Parliament Buildings. There... More

The architecture is beautiful overlooking Pest. However, it is not worth spending money on admission as only a small section is restricted. The other section of the Bastion is allowed public access for free and the views are similar.

See this place at the Budapest castle for both it's own beauty but also for the view out over the river toward Pest and especially for a great view of the parliament. One word of advice is do not pay the fee to go onto the upper level as you approach it with Matthias church on your left. If you... More
