We went with Abner, of Los Amigos de Huayhuash, on a 10 day Huayhuash trek. Abner and his family of guides are based in Chiquian, a village not far from the trailhead, so they are local and the money stays in Peru. We were extremely impressed with Abner and instantly comfortable with him. Unfortunately, we had chosen a cold rainy... More

Absolutely beautiful trek. Stunning mountains every day, one of the best trips I´ve ever done. Started in Huaraz with Huascaran Adventure agency. Highly recommend Paulino and his company. I was in touch with Paulino for months before we arrived and he always answered quickly and helped us arrange our trek despite trying to organize all the way in Korea. Our... More

I have just done this trip with KE adventures and it was the most amazing hike ever. The trip started and ended in Lima and went for 22 days with 16 days hiking. Everything ran like clockwork and KE's route goes off the main track and takes you places that few people ever go. It is fairly tough hike and... More

The Cordillera Huayhuash is a mere 30km long, but it is packed with stunning lakes, cascading glaciers and towering, fluted peaks over 6000m. These include Yerupaja (6634m), the world’s second highest tropical mountain, and Siula Grande (6356m), made famous by Joe Simpson and Simon Yates in the award winning book and film ‘Touching the Void’. Situated to the south of... More

Just back from a 15-day trek around the Cordillera Huayhuash with Quechuandes. Everything was great - we planned early because we wanted to do a customized, extended trip including high level routes and side trips, and Marie, assistant manager of Quechuandes was excellent in helping with that. She responded almost immediately to all of our questions, and answered everything in... More

The fantastic ice range of the Cordillera Huayhuash is renowned for knife-edged 20,000-foot peaks that attract mountaineers from around the world. Seven of Peru's highest peaks rise from this dramatic massif, whose awesome beauty can be seen in the gripping adventure film Touching the Void. Our challenging 14-day trek crosses seven high passes as we circle the entire range, with... More

Did the 10 day trek with Huascaran and it was easily the best trek I had in south America and I did a few! If you can handle the fact that you will never appreciate another mountain view again because "it's not as good as the huayhuash" then enjoy!

We organized a group of 6 people from ages 22 to 57 to trek Cordillera Huayhuash. Getting there and also going back to civilization was exhausting because transportation was very limited, but trekking the cordillera was awesome. This area is mostly 4000 mts above sea level so you have to be in very good physical condiition to really enjoy the... More

We met a brilliant guide during our trip to the Huayhuash. Sabino leads the group and works with his son and daughter (the lovely Lina) who also leads groups. They have a lot of experience in the mountains, and are very patient and supportive. Also Lina is an excellent cook! As it is a family business, the guides and people... More
