In the darkness they produce a glittering display. Carved out by the force of the river, the underground world is surprisingly beautiful with whirlpools and roaring waterfalls. Begin with a scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau and then our nature guides will take you through the caves in small groups and in boats. Departs Te Anau. « less

We were probably jaded after five glorious days of blue sky and sunshine on the Milford Track, but the glow worm caves of Te Anau were less awe-inspiring than expected. we were excited with the trip to the caves. It was great. Only thing I didnt enjoy was the quick ride into the caves once we got there. Also bring insect repellent for the midgies. More

We liked the trip on the lake and the sunset, on the way to glow worm caves. The visit of the cave consists in observing an underground river and getting into the dark, on small boats, to see the glow worms. Very interesting and well explained and documented. More

Beautiful boat ride on Lake Te Anau to get to the caves. Then after a short briefing you are through the cave system and then board a boat in the Grotto and quietly drift through viewing the beautiful sight of these little creatures glowing like stars twinkling in the night sky. This is a great family trip More

This was a fascinating visit into the middle earth of rushing waters. Guided by little blue glow worms - and an excellent tour leader named Peter we entered a magical place. Another excellent 'Real Journeys' trip More

This was a most enjoyable tour led by a well-informed guide. The information session was comprehensive. Visitors need move carefully as the guide flashes a torch on overhanging rocks. The boat ride in darkness and eerie silence is impressive as the glow worms softly shine above. More
