Just to the south of the city these hills offer walking, cycling and driving opportunites all with superb views of the city and beyond: to the ocean one way and in towards the mountains the other. Both the Sugarloaf Preserve and Victoria Park are located here. You should definitely get out here when visiting the city.

Plenty of great trails on the hills above Christchurch city. Not crowded and great views over the city, the Pacific in the East and all the way West to the Southern Alps. Good for walking or running.
