In a picturesque, tranquil setting overlooking Lake Rotorua, visitors can enjoy a wonderful fusion of relaxing hot spring pool bathing, sumptuous spa and massage therapies and picturesque lake views. Polynesian Spa has the use of two types of hot mineral water, one alkaline and one acidic, that are the unique point of difference of the operation. Many thousands of visitors to the spa have attested to the remedial effect the hot mineral waters have on such ailments as muscular complaints, arthritis and rheumatism. The Priest and Radium springs are most noted in this respect. We invite you to experience this World Top Ten Spa (natural/thermal/medical), as voted by readers of the prestigious Conde Nast Traveller magazine for several years and once again in 2011. We look forward to welcoming you to Polynesian Spa. « less

My second visit to the Polynesian Spa. Great location overlooking the lake. Probably one of my favourite hot spas in NZ. Last time I made the mistake of booking a standard private pool and found them characterless, just a pool with concrete walls around. The deluxe pools are probably better but expensive. Best value is the public pools. The are... More

We only did the hot pools, so no comments on any treatments here except that they did seem expensive. We went for the public pool option and even that was NZ$25 each. The pools themselves are not things of great beauty but the outlook over the lake is. I found the water mostly too hot for my liking - 39C... More

The pools and the place is fantastic, the pools perhaps too hot (39 degrees, 40 and 41) for what I really enjoy, but overall it is a great place. The only downside was that the place was packed with visitors, and they were very very loud. Also, they would come in groups of thirty suddenly to the pool, conquering the... More

We booked in here over the weekend. What a way to spend an afternoon. We booked in for a revitalising back massage, OMG. It was just awesome. It took over 2 hours as you need to arrive an hour early to soak in the hot pools and the massage treatment is 45 min. Thank you to the staff we really... More

I live in Japan, so the hot springs are over priced if a Japanese person was going to go. I would not recommend someone who has been to Japan but maybe for others. I loved the rotorua mud that I had tried in the gift shops so I wanted to do a mud massage. The massage was expensive but a... More

We spent our time in the Adult Pools etc, it was lovely, the differing pools was great. Nice and relaxing. If only we had more time to spare to enjoy it some more. Only criticism is to update the Lockers, we had major issues with lockers not working/out of order.

Beautiful location, large, well maintained site for sulphur pools. There was a variety of outdoor pools of various temperatures overlooking the lake. The change facilities were large and adequate. The gift shop had many brands of creams that I didn' see anywhere else. Bring your own shsmpoo and towel.

This place did not live up to its name. It felt a little grubby and run down and was overrun with noisy groups of orientals. If I were to go again, I would choose a private pool instead. We went at around 8-9 in the evening, but the experience was anything but relaxing.

As we had our 3 children with us we spent all our time in the family section. This is clean and well run. The spa pools next to the main family pool are hot enough to be enjoyable for the adults, and also to discourage the children spending too much time in them, as they soon hop back to the... More
