Sorry, but our experience at Te Mata was a little bit disappointing. I had the sense that the person doing the tastings was just learning what to say, rather than talking from years of experience. She also said that Te Mata could only ship their own wines, when very other vineyard seems to be able to ship whatever wines you... More

Best wines in Hawkes Bay in my opinion, with a good selection for tasting. No food, but not really an issue

Not a lot to see but the shop is very nicely presented and has a good variety of wines for sale. A tour would have been good even if it was short.

We were exceptionally lucky to be guests at a wedding hosted at Te Mata Winery. The walk through the trees was beautiful. The meal was devine. The staff were the best we have ever encountered at any event. ps the wine is fabulous!!!!!!!

The wine is decent, but the bad signage that led us up to the wrong place (and had us meet with an upset man who just grumbled that it was a private residence--even though he turned out to be the owner--it would have been nice if he redirected us to the proper entrance.)
