Nice to have these 'object de arts' to take one back to a bygone era only seen previously on the big screen.
This Art Deco walking tour was one of the highlights of our recent stay in the Napier area. The guide was very knowledgeable and we found ourselves fascinated by the Art Deco story. Our only wish was to be able to see some kind of video history of the 1931 Napier earthquake but the rest was all class.
Thanks so much for taking the time to review the Art Deco Trust's guided walks. Our volunteer guides love sharing their enthusiasm about Napier's Art Deco story with our visitors. Filled with Art Deco items, with the staff dressed to kill in the outfits of the 1930s, this place has everything Art Deco you could ever want. Tours available in cars of the period,... More
Loved our tour. Good mix of fact and humour. Liked that the guide is a volunteer interested in the subject. Also that despite running over time was willing and eager to continue. Shop very good with reasonably priced goods. Also great mix of people. Loved it all.
The art deco shop in Napier is superb. There is an enormous choice of good quality items to suit all budgets. The staff are dressed in period costume and are friendly and helpful. They even allowed me to take a photo of them. I could have spent all day browsing.
Lovely shop, and the video was very informative about the earthquake and the building of the town, and the staff enthusiastic and helpful.

The Art Deco shop is a treasure trove of 1930's memorabilia and well worth a visit. There is also a short film about the earthquake with a small charge ($5). Try to avoid it on cruise ship days as it gets a bit busy!!
