A fabulous shop/museum. Here you will find - or the super friendly staff will tell you, all about the history of Napier and the dreadful earthquake that re-shaped the town to how it is today. Amazing nostalgic trip through Art Deco times. Great town too by the way. Be prepared to take lots of photos.

We were an art group travelling through New Zealand and the tour with the Art Deco guide, Christine, was tailored to point out things that our group was interested in. The early history and the visit to the national tobacco factory...under renovation...was the highlight.

I note that some reviewers quibble about the lack of authenticity or mass production of some of the items. But it's a shop, not a museum. There are some terrific products to look at and enjoy. Purchasing some things may lighten the wallet quite a bit, but there are inexpensive bits and pieces, too. The point of it is, as... More

Napier New Zealand is a wonderful place to see great Art Deco, the Art Deco shop on the corner of Tennyson Street and Herschell Street is well worth a visit. OK they have a few items that are mass produced (and made in China) but overall the atmosphere and shopping experience is great. Beautiful lamps and wonderful little interesting pieces.... More

My wife and I were a bit surprised by the quality, and variety of products for sale. Most were at a reasonable price. The main issue I have is the commercialisation, a large number of items are clearly massed produced and unlikely to be Kiwi made. If you want a piece of Napier’s Art Deco history, the shop is the... The walking tour is highly recommended, our guide was informative and friendly and we learnt so much. There's a short talk with slideshow beforehand, then after the walk a film, and tea and coffee is available. A very enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours and well worth the $21 charged. The shop is fascinating to look round, too.

The Trust shop was recently relocated to the corner of Tennyson and Herschell street. Although on a sunday, the walk was very interesting when you are interested in architecture. Now I know a lot more about ziggurats. Also some information was available on the 1931 earthquake after which the great Art deco renewal took place. Peeking inside the bank you... More

A little frustrating as the map is not to scale and you need either a good GPS or another map. Otherwise informative.
