A must-do when you visit Auckland. It's an impressive building as a war memorial, and you can easily spend 3 hours learning everything about New Zealand's history and culture. Take a look at the Domain while you're there.

Fairly large museum where you can learn about all the different 'tribes' in new zealand. For folks who are really into history and culture. For me it was a little too much. We spent the morning and then left for the airport to fly back to the US in the afternoon.

Great variety of displays. Particularly loved the animals and their environments. Many interesting nooks and crannies. An easy place to lose someone with lots of levels and nooks and crannies.

We went to this museum as we read it had great exhibits for young children. We had our very young grand-daughter and we had no problems keeping her amused. We stopped at the Auckland Museum as part of a city bus tour. Not expecting to stay more than an hour, we wish we had had 5-6 hours. Lunch was very good and provided a good value. The museum staff were very friendly and helpful. And the Maori exhibits were simply outstanding!!!!!

This is a place everybody should visit. There are so many exhibits to see and there are also lots of new exhibitions showing at various times. The earthquake house was very intersting. There is so much to learn and we found it was a great learning experience for our grandchildren.

If you are interested in the history and culture of New Zealand, you need to visit this museum. The Maori collections are worth the visit even if you don't see anything else. There's lots to see at the Auckland Museum and it is located in the beautiful domain - lovely on a nice day to stroll from the city through the domain to the Museum.
