This is probably the best market i've been to in australia so far. Theres everything in there so its like a vintage market, a fresh food market, a craft market all combined. Its got many local crafts and souveniors available, fresh local produce, vintage clothings etc, food stalls and some wonderful street artists playing music, wonderful vibe. i recommend go... More

Great market with lots of local produce, great layout making it easy to navigate. I was able to locate the info booth and get a map. Heaps of food outlets and plenty of seating to sit and eat in the park behind the market. Found the market not to busy early which meant that I could walk the market and... More

Admittedly there are the imports and baubles of all description here but if you know your stuff you will find what you want as well as a few surprises. I enjoy the food, the music, the setting and the friendliness of the stall holders. Well worth a visit or be included in trip plans.

We visited this market on a Saturday morning in May before going to the AFL footy game between Port Adelaide Power and North Melbourne. It was a cold but sunny day with snow on Mt Wellington and beautiful yellow autumn leaves on trees. The mix of stalls, music and food was very good. Wish we had more time to browse... More

Slightly overated-lots of stalls, but in the end it's just another market. Extremely crowded, so not one for those who hate crowds!

We got blown away and missed the Salamanca Markets when they were closed due to the high winds (first time in 41 years!). However, tried the Farmers market on the Sunday. Great fresh produce and good for breakfast/brunch. Interesting set up. No sales until 9 am. There are line ups for the food outlets - dont miss the sushi and... More

I was really looking forward to having a wander around these markets, as I had heard amazing things... But sadly due to high winds they were cancelled, and it was the first time in a long time apparently. There were a lot of people floating around not too sure what to do, as they had travelled in especially for the... More

Yes it can be busy, yes it can be quite pricey, but you don't have to buy anything, it's just a great place to browse and have the odd coffee! If you don't like markets its a no-brainer, but this would have to be Australia's best market. There are plenty of things to see and plenty of places to eat... More

I have been to Salamanca Market a number of times over the years. And I always love it. But this time I found there were too many mass produced imports for sale there which detracted from what made it such a special market. Of course the stallholders need to make money but please keep to the craft/homemade/grown produce and less... More
