Beautiful view as you walk over the bridge, and very safe walkway. as you walk from Kangaroo point there is an underpass, but this was not very clear from the maps.
I am a cyclist and I always enjoy riding along the Brisbane River at night. One of the highlights is to ride over the Story Bridge at night. You can ride over on either side as there is a shared walk/cycle path on both sides, but the upstream side gives the better city lights view. You can ride on bike...

If you don't have a head for heights don't climb the bridge...but if you do you climb the Story Bridge it will present some magnificent views in all directions...do the dusk climb and you will see the sights during daytime and when night falls the city lights are so beautiful.

Beautiful autumn day in Brisbane, ran from Royal on the Park through Botanical Gardens/ Parliament House across the Goodwill Walking Bridge, along the walkway below the bluffs (watched rock climbers), over Story Bridge for the best view of the Brisbane skyline, along river to Eagle Street Pier, then headed inland to the Queen Street mall before going back to hotel....

The climb is easy and safe and provides another opportunity to see much of Brisbane. It is a great way to spend a few hours.
The tour guides are enthusiastic, and you certainly feel looked after. However, you spend a lot of time trundling up and down an inordinate number of steps for frankly little reward. The views are fine, but you don't stop in one place long enough to really enjoy them.
Magical backdrop to a perfect Brisbane night out. A true landmark. There can be no better way to spend an evening than glass of wine in hand, sitting in a restaurant at Eagle Street Pier drinking in the vista of the Story Bridge
We kayaked down to the bridge and then under it......It looks enormous when you are under it. Worth having a look at...from any angle!
For those who like walking or heights the bridge is great either to climb or just walk across the lower deck
