We took a bus to Mt Cootha and it was quite crowded even on a Thursday morning with many China visitors ( some are quite rude ) You get a stunning view of Brisbane city which was what we expected to see and it was so breezy and nice slowly walking around

Peace .... just go walking and enjoy the local fauna and flora ...You can spend an hour or so real easy and not far away is the Planetarium that has just been refurbished and is I believe a real unique experience .

Simply breath-taking. A lot of different plants from all over the world. Another example of how Aussie people do things properly. But take your time to visit it because the whole detour may take many many hours... but for sure it's worthwhile no matter if you visit it with your family, if you are a young guy, if you decide... I love the Botanical Gardens but I'm not a fan of the restaurant and bar area. They've added a dollar to all their ice creams, which I think is a bit of a rip off. With a free entrance the Botanical Gardens is obviously excellent value for money,I just wish the restaurant wasn't so gauche and out of character with... More

Take the kids to check out the lizards, about 5km from the city. Nice for a quick change of scenery.

When we visited we hired some bicycles and this was an excellant way to see the gardens as well as along the river banks.

One word - excellent. Well worth the visit. It is up and down so wearisome on the legs. There is a planetarium although this costs and you must book otherwise you will likely not get in as numbers are limited. There is a restaurant but picnic areas abound. Car parking is available.

Yesterday's walk through these gardens was delightful. What a diverse range of garden types to look at. Lots af opportunity to talk to my 3 year old grandson about the spikes aon the cacti! Water dragons, ducks and birds galore! Sadly the Planitarium was closed, no one knew why that I asked and the Herbirarium was open but deserted.

A friend and I go for a walk in the Mt Coot-tha Botanic gardens every couple of months. It is just lovely to walk down below the cafe and the duck ponds, through the rainforest walk and then up over the top and down past the totem poles to the walks behind. Not many people know that the gardens extend... More
