One of the best things about the Nicholson Museum is that so few people seem to know about it. I was unfortunate enough to strike a group of school children when I was there, but once they left there only three other people in the museum with me. This allows the and space to enjoy this small but lovely collection... More

Very clever way to exhibit 50 pieces in the museum as each on is accompanied by a story that tells of its acquisition or historical significance and the stories are fun, engaging, truthful (including one that describes how the founder of the museum was tricked by a fake piece and they have it on display), and refreshing. I revisited this place after years. It looks fantastic! The current exhibition on 50 objects is engrossing as it tells the stories of how the pieces came to be in the universities collection. The opened up space and the displays are great. Anyone interested in archeology or antiquities should not miss this place plus it's surroundings are pretty special too.

This fairly unknown museum within the university campus has a small but very well presented collection of Ancient Egyptian , Roman and Greek antiquities .It gives a unique insight in to the world of a private collector who had the passion and the funds to buy works during the Victorian era .
