We went to visit our friends in Chapala Mexico recently, and we are deeply in love with this place! The beautiful scenery you can only see in picture; chapala lake surrounded by mountains...various bright coloured flowers..and fruits..fantastic climate all year around...and very happy people. Everything about Chapala is beautiful! The nearby town Ajijic,is the largest expatriates community, and it has many... More

I live about 20 minutes from the Malecon at Lake Chapala and love walking it and people watching...Mexican families are a sight to behold. Usually a son/daughter holds the mothers' hand while strolling the Malecon...Mexicans are warm and friendly...There is violence everywhere in the World but I feel very safe living here for 5 1/2 years now...The malecon at night... Chapla is just a quick bus ride from Ajijic. If you're looking for a little day adventure from Ajijic go to Chapala to visit the malecon, plaza and flea market. The prices at this market are a little cheaper then Ajijic, with much more variety. The restaurants on the east side are much better value then those on the west beach side.

The Malecon in Chapala is a great place to spend an afternoon. There are some historical info but what I loved is the large amout of shops set up there as well as lots of eateries. Bought a suede vest for my grandson with his name burned into it for 150 pesos about 13 dollars..Because there was a Fiesta on... More

Very nice, family oriented gatherings especially on Sundays. Locals steel crafts, music, drinks etc while other local musicians compete for everyones attention for some tip-making. All you need to know about Chapala is the weather. I was at the park today and said to myself if there were an outdoor thermostat, I wouldn't adjust up or down one degree. Warm,... More

well, actually, some good ice cream and roasted nuts are also a treat, watch Tapatios and their extended families have fun and duck the hundred million gnats "bobos", they will find a way into your ear or nose and out your heiny, enjoy!

We live 1/2 block from this wonderful malecon and have never seen the statue that is portrayed i this picture. Perhaps it is from Puerto Vallarta where there are many statues of this type. We love strolling the malecon. It is wonderful to see several generations of families doing the same thing. Inexpensive Mexican treats ( ice creams, roasted corn,... More

The city of Chapala has done a Great job with cleaning up the Chapala Malecon. It´s a great half mile walk with vendors along part of the way.

We were visiting the nearby city of Guadalajara and our friends (who had been in the area several times before) mentioned this place. We decided to go spend one afternoon there and had a really good time. The only bad thing about it was a weird smell and some garbage in one area of the malecon, otherwise it was really... More
