If you enjoy historic sites get up early and beat the crowds on the way up to the Acropolis of Lindos. You can take a donkey ride (€5) if the steep walk is too much for you or you simply want the experience. The views from the Acropolis warrant making this trip. Entry costs €6 for adults, €3 for over... More

Despite what our hotelier said: 'They are corpulent and need the work' we felt sorry for the poor 'Lindos taxis' (as the donkeys are called by their 'drivers'). These beasts shouldn't truly carry more than 130-140 pounds...unfortunately, few of those riding them qualified. We started wandering up in to Lindos' Old town, stopping at a shop or two and soon... We visited this on an early Sunday morning when the day was fresh and the Acropolis was open. We were told it was closed on Mondays. The village of lindos is superb with lots of lovely shops and places to eat. The beach is also beautiful. We wandered through the village and then made the steep climb up to the... More

Travel up by donkey (5eu) and be careful of unguarded drops. Wonderful photo viewpoint. Check out the Trieres greek ship carving. Walk down and have an ice-cold Mythos at Melenos.

Walked to the acropolis from Lindos View at sunup before the day got too hot. It took about an hour at a relaxed pace and it was well worth it - the view from the acropolis is stunning.

It seems to be very lovely but we could see only the exterior ! All the guides tell that the site is open only in the morning so we came in the morning. But the day we came, it was closed in the morning... So we had to leave without seeing the Acropole.

Worth going for a visit or even staying for your holiday. Nice bay area for boat trips. Acropolis worth the steep climb, or donkey ride up the steep streets.

My partner and I recently went and viewed the acropolis. It's a beautiful place of history with some absolutely stunning views, not for the faint hearted or those who fear heights as there is no barriers around the top of the castle. You can opt to take a donkey up to the top but I wouldn't recommend it, the donkeys... More

If you can arrive early - the site opens at 8 am - you will be able to explore without too many other visitors and will not find it too hot ... very little if any shade. The views are spectacular, and it's worth taking the time to work out from the helpful information boards what you are actually seeing.... More

The Acropolis is at the top of a hill. There are at least 200-250 steps from Lindos town to the top. It is tiring to get up there in the heat so take water. You can take a donkey taxi for a good half of the climb for €5 to make this easier. Entry is €6. The restored ruins of... More
