The water was pretty choppy the day we went, so the boat ride to Inisheer wasn't easy. The crew was kind enough, and they kept us alive (no small feat with those waves!). It was fun to explore the island, but I don't think I'd do it again, just because of the ride over and back. More

We took the Doolin Ferry over to the smallest Aran Island in late September, 2007. It is much smaller and slower than the ferries from Galway, but that is part of the charm. If the tide is low as it was when we went over, you may have to transfer to the ferry in a smaller boat with life vests... More
