We really enjoyed our visit to Rosserk, and we were the only people there. We explored for about 45 minutes before heading down the road to St. Mary's Well. The ruins are surrounded by pastures, and you can hear the sheep and horses. The view of the water is beautiful, and it is a nice place to walk and reflect.... More

We visited in October. Never say another living soul. Nicely preserved and touchingly somber. Worth a visit.

This place if beautiful. Great find while exploring County Mayo. Still in remarkable shape for it's age and the amount of weather it is subjected to. A must see if exploring sites around Ballina.

Great friary ruin to poke around in. Simple design on the banks of the Moy. Wear your wellies and explore. Some room for parking.

This is a lovely friary set on the banks of the Moy estuary. There are lovely views from the Abbey. It is a very peaceful place and enjoyable for children too with lots of places to hide.

Rosserk is an impressive and well preserved Franciscan friary dating to the 15th century and situated on the Moy estuary in Killala Bay. An OPW official at the site filled us in with lots of information about the friary and the surrounding area. Rosserk is off the beaten track and we only discovered it while walking the Western Way. On the way, you pass a holy well for Mary. The roads are small but I don't think we passed anyone that morning and there was no one but us at the abbey.

Rosserk Friary is not the biggest around, Moyne and Rathfran Abbeys are not far away and bigger. But Rosserk is easy to reach and very rewarding to visit. You can drive up to the walls, one of the attractions already on the outside: the littel hole in the wall, where sick people could receive the sacrament without entering the church.... More
