Home Of Peig Sayers was the main reason for taking the very short boat ride to the Island. Views to the mainland are WOW!!!!!! Also watch out for all the Native Grey Seals on the Beach More

The Great Blasket island is amazing and a must see. Pack a lunch and plan on a full day over there! You will want to explore the island but also find a great place to sit and enjoy the beauty! Wear shoes for hiking! This is not a place you want to walk around in flip flops or other slip... More

Spent the day on the Great Blasket... Did the hike to the highest point and had a picnic there overlooking the skelligs and walked the entire perimeter of the island. Basgues in the glory of the tales and sceals that hide in every corner of the island. Made friend with some very friendly donkies and said prayers at the little... More

Incredible story here. I did not visit the island but was at the visitor's center on the mainland. It was a windy, rainy day and it made me think how strong the people were who lived on that island. There must have been better weather. More

I fully agree with all the very positive comments regarding The Great Blasket and would urge anyone travelling in the Dingle peninsula not to miss a trip there. You will experience rugged beauty at its very best here, with unimaginable views that will truely take your breath away. The "BUT" comes in the shape of midges and tiny, black flying... More

We traveled to Dingle for the day and wanted to see Blasket Island. We got started a little late and found that we missed the only ferry that ran to Blasket from Dingle. The tour operator directed us to Dún Chaoin which is 30 minutes down the road from Dingle where the ferries ran every hour. We decided that Blasket... More

We did NOT go to the Island but the visitor center is fascinating and should be one stop a person makes on the Dingle Peninsula. The Irish Heritage Card (a VERY worthwhile investment!) gets you in free. The demonstrations and exhibits are fascinating and worth the side trip. More
