Most seaside latin american towns have a malecon. This small but picturesque seawall promenade gave me the feeling of what it was like to live in the Puerto Rico of old, an ambiance of music, diners, dancers and starlight reflecting waters by night.

This was our "downtown" during our visit. Lots more activity, people watching, bars and restaurants. Very safe. Very different feel than Isabel Segundo. We would definitely stay in this area/neighborhood again.

Many places to sit outside and eat or just have a drink and watch the passer-byes. Walk-able to Esperanza beach and pier and Sun Bay if staying in Esperanza.

Colorful, pretty walkway along the ocean allows nice views for those strolling along as well as the customers sitting back across the street at the bars and restaurants of Esperanza. Boats and smaller islands moor just offshore.

We love walking along the Malecon at night after dinner...what a beautiful spot and great place to get something to eat!

The Malecon is a seaside walkway in the town of Esperanza on Vieques. It is a delightful walk in the evening after dinner. There are many bars, restaurants, and guesthouses located across the street, so views from these places is not obstructed by buildings.

We stayed at the Esperanza Inn and were just steps away from the malecon. It was incredibly clean and the views were amazing every single day.
