I had a lovely time at the beach, please don't get me wrong, but this was DESPITE afew things. The beaches are black and not especially clean, and I am used to clean white sand. I was surprised to see that the beach has a blue flag, as it is nowhere near the condition of the last blue flag beaches... More

You shouldn't ask an Australian to review an Italian beach. It's grey, pebbley, and you have to buy space on the beach. It wasn't hot when I was there, so resisted the temptation. More

Everyone's idea of a good beach differs wildly. Whilst this beach has a great back drop and clear waters, from a sand perspective, unless the soles of your feet are lined with asbestos, I wouldn't recommend it for a barefoot romantic stroll or even a lie down. You need a nice thick towel, or a lounger (which you will be... More

The beach known as Spaggia Grande in Positano is just beautiful. The black sand (pebble) beach up against the turquois waters of the sea is spectacular. There are great restorantes all along the beach prominade. You can rent chaisses and umbrellas in one area or bring a blanket for the other area. Beware: the black beach get extremely hot in... More

The beach itself is not the best I've ever seen. There is not sand at all, there is only pebbles.Water is clear, warm and have a beautiful turquoise colour. There are two sections:the left part looking towards sea is with paid acces, and offers sunloungers, umbrellas and change cabin;the right part, smaller,is the free acces part, with no facilities provided. This part is a little crowded, but not excessive.In... There is a section roped off for residents of positano who dont have to pay and another huge section for those who want to purchase chairs. They charge by "person" not by chair, which is slightly annoying. The "free" part is around the area where the boats come in and out. The beach and water however were beautiful. More

Positano is a truly wonderful place. And the water is great, too, a beautiful shade of blue. I'm just not sure the narrow stretch in between them even deserves to be called a "beach". Don't get me wrong - my wife and I loved it here, the local community really maxed out all that can be made out of the... More

Positano was one of the most scenic areas that my girlfriend and I visited, while in Italy. We stayed in Sorrento, and took a local bus to Positano. The bus ride from Sorrento to Positano was approximately 45 minutes. Those prone to motion sickness may want to take nausea medication prior to the ride as it can get pretty sickening.... More

The view of Positano from the water is just beautiful., however be careful while swimming.. I was bitten by a jelly fish that left 3 stripes on my arm for 5 weeks.. I was told if was a common occurrence..The lifeguard sprayed the arm for the sting., but it didn't help.. More
