There is a section roped off for residents of positano who dont have to pay and another huge section for those who want to purchase chairs. They charge by "person" not by chair, which is slightly annoying. The "free" part is around the area where the boats come in and out. The beach and water however were beautiful. More

Positano was one of the most scenic areas that my girlfriend and I visited, while in Italy. We stayed in Sorrento, and took a local bus to Positano.
