Step back in time in this wonderful old pub and partake of some real farmhouse ciders rather than the imitatation, mass produced, fizzy, beverages that are sold in public houses these days. Not a plush 'trendy' joint by any means but it simply oozes charm and atmosphere with the scrumpy being served straight from barrels rather than being gassed up... More

As an American student always on the look out for old time Britain, this place is great. As others have said before the decor is not fancy, but there in lies the charm. This place is a proper old time-y pub with character. I went on a Saturday night, and the clientele was eclectic, ranging from groups of teenagers with... More

We love "Real" cider, and as we were having a weekend break in Torquay, we were determined to visit the Cider Bar after finding out about it online. We'd read the mixed reviews but this didn't put us off. We went yesterday on a very wet, cold and windy Sunday afternoon. The bar wasn't very busy, but there was no... More

To get a true taste of Devon folk, you must visit Ye Old Cider Bar. A true local's pub, but one that welcomes all, the Cidre Bar is as traditional as it gets. Forget carpets, comfy seats and keg bitter - none are available here, but the cider is quality and the atmosphere is real. For a real local treat,... More

Having attended Newton Abbot races one evening I was determined to visit this bar having read so much about it. In fairness we didn't arrive until about 10pm but everybody in the place was completely soaked - not just merry or drunk, I mean inebriated & incapable of any interaction! The barmaid seemed very fed up & wasn't interested in... More

Great traditional bar. Basic but thats it's charm. The Cider selection is excellant but be careful it's strong stuff. Black Rat and Suicide ( names of Cider) are great.!!! You have been warned

If you love cider then you'll think you've died and gone to heaven when you enter this place. Chances are you'll probably think the same thing after you've left ! It's got everything from champagne cider to farmyard cider and a few rotten apples in-between. But just because it sells only cider to cider heads it's not a rough place... More
